Hellenic Train provides transport services for containers and conventional freight, either via block trains or scheduled freight services, to and from the domestic network and border stations.

A block train is defined as a train formation with a carried (chargeable) load, typically up to 750 tons or 56 UTIs (i.e. 28 × 40΄ containers), consisting of wagons carrying cargo for a single consignor and transported as a single unit, without changes in train composition, from the loading (departure) point to the unloading (arrival) point. In certain cases, due to infrastructure constraints, the above weight or number of UTIs may vary.

Considering freight transport requirements, Hellenic Train leverages the full capabilities of the Greek rail network to organize and operate both domestic and international block train services.
